We offer airBaltic cheap flights. AIR BALTIC CORPORATION (airBaltic) is a stock company that was established in 1995. The primary shareholder is the Latvian state with 99.8% of stock.

 

In 2011 airBaltic carried over 3.3 million passengers.

 

Currently, airBaltic operates direct flights out of three Baltic States capitals – Riga, Latvia, Vilnius, Lithuania and Tallinn, Estonia.

 

airBaltic offers flights to and from Aalesund, Amsterdam, Athens, Baku, Barcelona, Bari, Bergen, Berlin, Billund, Brussels, Budapest, Chisinau, Copenhagen, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Helsinki, Istanbul, Kaliningrad, Kaunas, Kiev, Lappeenranta, London, Milan, Minsk, Moscow, Munich, Nice, Odessa, Oslo, Oulu, Palanga, Paris, Riga, Rome, Simferopol, St. Petersburg, Stavanger, Stockholm, Tallinn, Tampere, Tashkent, Tbilisi, Tel Aviv, Turku, Umea, Venice, Vienna, Vilnius, Warsaw, Zurich.

 

The airBaltic fleet currently consists of 32 aircraft - 6 Boeing 737-500s, 8 Boeing 737-300, 10 Fokker-50s and 8 Bombardier Q400 NextGen.

 

 

Hand baggage


Each passenger (except infants) is allowed 2 pieces of hand baggage (Business Class) or 1 piece of hand baggage with an 8 kg weight limit (Economy Class and Basic Class).

Extra/oversized hand baggage will be refused at the boarding gate, or where available, placed in the hold of aircraft for a fee of EUR 60.

For safety and convenience of you and your fellow passengers, each passenger (except infants) is allowed 2 pieces of hand baggage (Business class) or 1 piece of hand baggage with an 8 kg weight limit (Economy and Basic class). Hand baggage must be stowed under the seat in front of passenger or in the locker above passenger seat. The overall dimensions of hand baggage may not exceed 55x40x20 cm. A passenger with reduced mobility is allowed to bring auxiliary devices into the aircraft cabin, provided that safety rules are not violated.

Briefcase, laptop, cameras etc. must be carried within your 1 hand baggage. Extra/oversized hand baggage will be refused at the boarding gate, or where available, placed in the hold of aircraft for a fee of EUR 60. If you are unsure about your hand baggage size/weight, please, contact baggage drop desk before going to security check.

 

Checked-in baggage

 

Business Class - not more than 3 pieces of checked-in baggage allowed with total weight for all baggage pieces up to 30 kg, free of charge.

Economy Class (booked after April 18, 2012) - 1 piece of checked-in baggage allowed with weight up to 20 kg, free of charge.

Economy Class (booked before April 18, 2012)/Basic class - when paying for baggage while making booking, paying via baggage payment form there is a fee of EUR 20 per one way of travel for every checked-in baggage piece.
In other sales channels:

  • fee of EUR 30 per bag/per one way of travel;
  • for BalticMiles members if baggage check-in fee is paid together with the ticket, fee is EUR 20 per bag/per one way of travel.

In case your trip includes a stopover in Riga for more than 24 hours, the baggage fee is applicable per each flight to your final destination separately.

If you booked your ticket on airBaltic.com or bought additional baggage paying via baggage payment form after January 4, 2012, total baggage weight limits are as follows:

  • 1 bag - 20 kg
  • 2 bags - 25 kg
  • 3 bags - 30 kg
  • 4 bags - 35 kg
  • 5 bags - 40 kg

For bookings booked before January 4, 2012 and with no additional baggage paying via baggage payment form after January 4, 2012, total weight limit for all baggage pieces is 20 kg.

BalticMiles VIP members – with a Business class ticket 5 pieces (up to 50 kg), with an Economy class ticket 3 pieces (up to 40 kg)(booked after April 18, 2012)/2 pieces (up to 40 kg)(booked before April 18, 2012) and with Basic 2 pieces (up to 40 kg) total free baggage allowance.

BalticMiles Executive members – with a Business class ticket 4 pieces (up to 40 kg), with an Economy class ticket 2 pieces (up to 30 kg)(booked after April 18, 2012)/1 piece (up to 30 kg)(booked before April 18, 2012) and with Basic class ticket 1 piece (up to 30 kg) total free baggage allowance.

Corporate customers travelling in Economy (B) class may have 2 pieces of checked-in baggage with total weight up to 25 kg (booked after January 4, 2012)/ 20 kg (booked before January 4, 2012) free of charge.

Infants may have 1 piece of checked baggage up to 10kg and 1 fully collapsible stroller/pushchair, free of charge. One adult + infant baggage may be pooled.

If you take baggage with a weight above your allowance you will have to pay an extra charge at the price EUR 15 per 1 kg on each flight segment. If your checked-in baggage allowance exceeds pieces and weight allowed, both fees will be applied simultaneously. Extra weight fees are collected at airBaltic ticket offices only. Please note that baggage allowance for several passengers (e.g. family) does not sum up. One passenger can check in up to 5 baggage pieces. Maximum weight of one checked-in baggage piece is 32 kg.

If you book your ticket online and know that your baggage weight will exceed airBaltic restrictions, pay EUR 25 flat fee per person for every extra 5 kg baggage per direction of travel instead of paying much bigger amount at the airport! Charge for extra baggage weight at the airport is EUR 15 per 1 kg per one flight. The more extra baggage weight you choose the bigger will be your saving.

For example - for one flight and 15 kg extra weight it would be EUR 225 if you pay at airport. If you pay EUR 75 during ticket booking process you save EUR 150 for a flight or even EUR 375 per direction (if you have two flights in one direction of travel).

Please note! This service can only be purchased together with flight tickets and is not refundable.This service is available only for flights operated by airBaltic.

Fee paid for baggage transportation is non-refundable.

If flight is operated by other carrier other baggage transportation rules may apply. Therefore we kindly ask you to contact airBaltic call centre to find out baggage rules applicable in your case.

On Intercontinental flights (e.g. flights to USA or Canada) certain number of bags with certain weight limit is allowed free of charge. If the ticket contains Intercontinental flight(s) then airBaltic baggage fees are not applicable. Number of bags and weight limit allowed free of charge is determined by airBaltic (if the first segment is operated by airBaltic) or the transporting carrier of the intercontinental flight (if the first flight segment isn't operated by airBaltic).

You must not include in your checked-in baggage fragile items, such as glasses, foodstuffs, perishable items, items of a special value, such as money, keys, prescribed medicine, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, business documents, passports and other identification documents, or samples, jewelry, precious metals, electronic/electrical devices, such as cameras, computers, cellular telephones and musical instruments.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT

Bicycle One bicycle per passenger is accepted if the pedals are removed and handle-bar is turned. On each flight, only a limited number of bicycles can be accepted for transportation. Bicycles intended for transportation have to be declared in advance. Business class passengers and BalticMiles VIP members may transport one bicycle free of charge. Economy and Basic class passengers pay EUR 30 (if paying for baggage and ticket together) or EUR 40 (if paying for baggage separately) per one way of travel. Maximum weight allowance 32 kg.
 
Diving equipment Business class passengers and BalticMiles VIP members may transport one diving set free of charge. Economy and Basic class passengers pay EUR 30 (if paying for baggage and ticket together) or EUR 40 (if paying for baggage separately) per one way of travel. Maximum weight allowance 32 kg.
 
Golf equipment Business class passengers and BalticMiles VIP members may transport one golf set consisting of one golf bag containing one set of golf clubs, golf balls and one pair of golf shoes free of charge. Economy and Basic class passengers pay EUR 30 (if paying for baggage and ticket together) or EUR 40 (if paying for baggage separately) per one way of travel. Maximum weight allowance 32 kg.

Fishing equipment Set of fishing equipment consists of one rod, one angler bag and one bait box. Suitable packaging required.
Business class passengers and BalticMiles VIP members one fishing equipment may transport free of charge.
Economy and Basic class passengers pay EUR 30 (if paying for baggage and ticket together) or EUR 40 (if paying for baggage separately) per one way of travel. Maximum weight allowance 32 kg.

Surf/kite board and windsurfing equipment Business class passengers and BalticMiles VIP members one surf/kite board or windsurfing equipment (1 kite board and kite or 1 surfboard or 1 windsurfing equipment package) may transport free of charge. Economy and Basic class passengers pay EUR 40 per one way of travel.

Items must be packed in one package with maximum weight limit of 32kg and overall dimensions limited to following:

  • 213x76x41cm (Boeing 737-300/500 flight)
  • 305x86x50cm (Boeing 757-200 flight);

Not accepted on Fokker F50 and Bombardier Q400 flights.

OTHER SPECIAL BAGGAGE

Pram Transporting is free of charge if the reservation contains an infant (up to 2 years old). A folding pram is not included in total baggage allowance.

Wheelchair A wheelchair if it is required for movement of a passenger is transported without any additional charge. airBaltic requires passenger to inform the use of wheelchair at least 48 hours before departure.

Cello, other musical instruments and fragile items The musical instrument cello, other musical instruments and fragile items may be accepted for carriage in the cabin and will be placed in seat next to passenger. Maximum weight of item may not exceed 32kg and overall dimensions are limited to following:

  • cello 35x50x150cm (Boeing flight) or 35x40x135cm (Fokker flight);
  • other items 43x45x95cm (Boeing flight) or 42x43x85cm (Fokker flight).

Tickets for cello, other musical instruments and fragile items can be bought at airBaltic ticket offices or travel agencies only and together with adult passenger ticket. Cello with adult ticket booked via internet won't be accepted for carriage. If you need to transport cello, other musical instruments or fragile items please contact an airBaltic ticket office or your local travel agency.

Small fragile items, musical instruments, which do not need an extra seat, may be allowed to take on board as extra hand baggage for special fee of EUR 30 (if paying for baggage and ticket together) or EUR 40 (if paying for baggage separately) per one way of travel. Maximum 1 extra hand baggage per passenger is allowed, weight of item may not exceed 8 kg and overall dimensions are limited to 55x40x20 cm and even if passenger has paid for an extra hand baggage to take on board, check-in agent reserves the right to limit hand baggage to minimum.

Bulky items, musical instruments, child/infant car type seats etc. which do not qualify for hand baggage is included in total baggage allowance. Fee of EUR 15 per each excess baggage kg above allowance is applicable. Bulky items should be requested at airBaltic ticket offices in advance. Maximum weight for each item is 32 kg.

Fee paid for baggage transportation is non-refundable.

Due to limited space in each aircraft for transporting special baggage you are kindly asked to agree transportation of any special baggage item with us in advance. Please, contact airBaltic ticket offices or representatives.

TRANSPORTATION NOT ALLOWED

For safety reasons, the following articles or materials may not be carried in passenger baggage or on your person:

  • compressed flammable gases;
  • corrosive materials, spillable batteries, acid, mercury;
  • explosives, fireworks;
  • flammable solids;
  • radioactive materials;
  • oxidising materials;
  • flammable liquids;
  • poisonous materials;
  • magnetized materials;
  • other dangerous goods.

If you are not sure whether any particular item may be transported by an airplane or not, and if yes, then how it must be packed – please contact airBaltic ticket offices or representatives for more detailed information.

Security rules about carrying liquids from Non-Schengen countries.
You are not permitted to carry any liquids or gel-type products purchased at airports outside the European Union when you pass through security checks at EU airports during transfers between flights or during waits between flights.

 

Check-in for AirBaltic flights

 

In Riga airport check-in can be performed using services of airport employees or using self-check-in kiosks. Check-in deadline when using self-check-in kiosk corresponds to check-in deadline of your flight, which in Riga airport is 40 minutes for Economy class passengers and 30 minutes for Business class passengers.
