Porto is a port city on the Atlantic Ocean, north of Portugal, Douro River estuary. Portugal's second largest city. A large industrial center. Porto is a portwine birthplace. Known football clubs, FC Porto and Boavista FC. The Romans called the city of Portus Cale (after the goddess Gaia name). The name originates from the whole country - the Portuguese name. Porto has historically been considered "urban wilderness" (A Cidade Invicta), because it has never been taken by foreigners (from the Moors and ending with Napoleon).
